Antiques and Arts at The Park Avenue Armory

Keeping our loyal readers in the know is a prime object of this blog, which is why we don't want anyone to miss this The Avenue Art Show and the Park Avenue Armory in New York City.  An impressive list of antique vendors and unique exhibits means you will want to mark this down... in pen. The show kicks off tomorrow at the opening night benefit for the American Cancer Society HOPE LODGE NYC.  Tickets are still available, click here for additional information.  Thursday at 11am is when the doors open to the public.

This year the show will feature original work from artists like Sally Brody, Rosemary Hamilton and Alan Peckolick

With so much great original art being shown its a great opportunity to give something other than a cashmere sweater for the upcoming holiday season.

Also being shown is an exhibit from Brooks Brothers called "Generations of Style", a photo retrospective of over two centuries in the retailer's legendary history. It couldn't come at a better time for the company, which has sought to expand its brand to a younger audience with it's new line Black Fleece.

After the masses have enjoyed the exhibits from 11am-5pm doors close for a private VIP invite only crowd.  On Friday doors are open to all from 11-7:30 but at 10am registered visitors can attend a designer panel moderated by TODAY show correspondent Susanna Stalk entitled: "Decorating with Antiques in The Modern World." Later that day at 4pm The Royal Oak Foundation will be giving a lecture called "A Family Affair: Treasures from the Rothschild Collection at Waddesdon Manor."  Waddesdon Manor is the 2,700 acre Farming Estate of Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild who is famous for creating the French Renaissance style and throwing lavish parties

On Saturday December 5th at 3pm the Executive Director of The Royal Oak Foundation John James Oddy will be giving a presentation named "A Country's Caretakers: The Collections and Treasures of Britain's National Trust."  The National Trust is the steward for 300 historic houses that contain millions of rare artwork and furniture.  The lecture will explore the history of the manor and the treasures the foundation keep.

Tickets are $20 a head and can be purchased online.  The affair promises to not online be highly informative by also inspiring.
