In the spirit of the beginning of the eight nights of Hanukkah here are some fun events going on in the New York area for all of you locals out there!
For the music lovers, you might be interested in A Chanukah Concert at Town Hall, featuring the Moscow Male Jewish Choir. This 20-voice ensemble will preform folk songs in yiddish, hebrew and Russian, including some more modern melodies. Matisyahu returns for the fourth year for a 8 night run split between Webster Hall and Music Hall of Williamsburg. Take part in the world’s largest menorah lighting each night of the festival at the 59th street Grand Armory Plaza. Each night revelers will light this this 32 foot high, 4,000 pound menorah at 5:30 pm (Sabbath lightings at 3:30 and 8:30). Come Sunday there will be singing and free potato pancakes!
Fix the Christmas Eve blues and head out to join other young Jews at the Matzo Ball. Held in cities all over the world (it will be at Capitale in NYC this year) its a great way to mix and mingle while others are doing the jingle bell rock.
