Contemporary Designers Add some Color and Print To Fashion Week

What's black, white and red with dashes of purple and blue? The collections from Erin Fetherston, Alice and Olive, Tibi and Marc by Marc Jacobs.  The contemporary heavy weights really turned out a show dubbing red the power color of the upcoming season.  Each collection also relied heavily on  nude naturals and it was definitely nice to see that all the sequined dresses we've invested in over the past season are still current. Below are some examples from Featherston's show, who really made an impact and was met with rave reviews... its not hard to see why.

The girl Featherston was designing for was clear: a young, modern, sophisticated woman who still wants to hold onto her girlish roots while moving forward.  The color story would translate nicely into a sitting room and a posh bedroom.

Below are some looks from Alice and Olivia.  The designer, who dresses young celebs and socialites all over, relied heavily on neutrals and textures.  Loving the gray suit and even though it is pretty conservative the flouncy jacket and slouch trousers makes this a youthful ensemble.

Tibi really turned it out this season.  She really made these patterns and colors come to life and somehow managed to make the drab wintery months lively and fun.

Marc by Marc Jacobs kept with the color theme but opted for a more punk rock, 80's British feel.

While all the designers above used a similar color palette they stayed true to their personal aesthetics.  We put together a polyvore set inspired by the designs we loved from above being careful to balance the purples, reds and blacks with neutrals in plush velvets.
