There are certain things your guests will come to expect (same if you are bringing a dish) and thats some good ol' home grown comfort food. Frog legs and fussy finger foods need not RSVP come this weekend, but rather give the people what they want: head to your supermarket or wholesale supermarket and buy some classics in bulk (chicken fingers, hot wings, pigs in a blanket) and serve them hot in your cute serving dishes (leave the Tupperware in the kitchen). Accentuate your food with dips that dazzle; use place-cards distinguish between the selections and throw in some fun, new ones you can't just find in a can. Here are some ideas:
1. Texas Caviar- The Lonestar State is known for their love of football, which makes this recipe a poignant addition.
Ingredients
2. What would a Super Bowl party be without guacamole? This is the only thing I know how to make so enjoy:
Ingredients
4 Avocados
2 Red Peppers
3 Jalepano Peppers
1/3 cup chopped parsley
1 lime
1 Corona Light
Directions
1. Finely chop peppers, jalepanos and parsley and combine in one bowl
2. Cut avocados and mix well with other ingredients; squeeze lime around mixed spread
3. Add salt to your liking
4. Drink Corona (especially if your entertaining)
3. Skip the blue cheese dressing and elevate your taste buds with this Aioli Dip Recipe:
Ingredients:
3 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 cup lemon juice
2 egg yolks, beaten
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon ground white pepper
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 1/2 cup olive oil
Directions:
1. In a food processor or blender, puree garlic. Add next 6 ingredients; process until smooth. With the motor running, slowly pour oil into mixture in a steady stream. Continue processing until mixture becomes thick and firm. Chill until ready to serve.
2. Serve with artichoke hearts, hearts of palm, blanched snow peas, carrots, cauliflower, strips of green pepper, cherry tomatoes, zucchini, hard cooked eggs, chunks of cooked lobster, cooked shrimp, or chunks of French bread.
Best of luck to, er, the home team? But more so best of luck to all of you braving snow (on this side of the country) and adding a little bit of style to this American Holiday. Pin It
