If you didn’t have a chance to read our entry on fashions at the Oscars last night that we posted a few hours ago, you can read it here. So many stunning gowns made their way down the red carpet and Sandra Bullock sparkled in her gold Marchesa gown on her big night:
When looking at Sandra’s dress, I remembered seeing a glamourous spread in Harper’s Bazaar on the dressing room of beautiful Marchesa designer, Georgina Chapman (who recently married Hollywood heavyweight Harvey Winstein – twenty-four years her senior). Photos by Alexi Lubomirski.
Her opulent dressing room is soft and feminine and I love the etched Venetian mirrors, mirrored tables and antique gilt chair…all things you might find at The Well Appointed House.
The sheep skin rug is a soft contrast to the wood floors. Stay tuned, The Well Appointed House will be offering a huge collection of these rugs in about a week (hint hint). The small and delicate chandelier adds a touch of glitter and the sleek lucite bench gives a contemporary edge. Mixing items from different genres gives a layered look and adds texture.
And though I love the sheepskin and lucite, I am always a big fan of classic wall coverings from de Gournay (my dining room has hand painted Gracie wallpaper). Here we see a nice contrast between the deep green hue of the hand-painted Chinoiserie paper and Chapman’s soft creme colored gown and the gold chaise. Picture perfect!
