Fall is almost here and with that comes fabulous family events in and around New York City! I wanted to tell you about two of my favorites!
The first is the American Museum of Natural History’s Seventeenth Annual Family Party. The family party is happening Tuesday, October 19th from 5-7:30pm. Mark your calendars! I am one of the Chairs of this event and it is going to be great!
The committee and development office have been hard at work ensuring that the Family Party is going to be a lot of fun for kids of all ages again this year! This party truly is one of the Museum’s best-loved traditions because it features both educational activities and fun
entertainment for kids from two to twelve. This year we will have some exciting guest appearances by some of our favorite local entertainers and NYC kids venues! Slither with the snakes at “A Touch of Nature” with Jerry Zelenka. Fairy tales do come true! Transform into a valiant knight or fair princess with costumes by Let’s Dress Up! Grab a hard hat and map and search for clues with the Architots Blueprint Challenge and afterward dig for dinosaurs at the big Gobi sand dig! You won’t believe your eyes with the tricks Magic-Al Garber has up his sleeves (this magician is amazing at captivating kids of all ages)! Kids can sparkle and dazzle at the Tiffany & Co. craft table. Watch as Wacky Wendy’s Hat Factory’s cogs and wheels churn and turn to build you a personalized hat that looks like your favorite animal! Let your wild side loose with ferocious faux hawks and magnificent manes from Cozy’s Cuts for Kids. Hop on board our very own Moveable museum! There will be a fun AMNH “Science Center” where children will be able to explore live animals, extreme specimens (my kids always love this!) and interesting scientific data. Kids can channel their inner Picassos and paint their own Sea or Sky pal. After playing their way through the museum with Kids in Sports and having a delicious dinner, there will be a musical performance by Laughing Pizza! There is plenty of fun for the adults, too! If you are free the evening of October 19th, please join us! You can view the entire invitation here
and buy tickets here.

So, if you can, join us at the Family Party! You won’t regret it!
If you cannot attend the Family Party, don’t fret – there is another fabulous family event taking place in Greenwich, CT…the GO WILD Family Field Day on Sunday, September 26th! Go Wild is put on by the Greenwich Land Trust and is considered one of the premier family events in Greenwich. If you live in the city, take a nice car ride out and join us at GO WILD. My friend Susan Sleeper is a co-chair of this year’s event along with Beth Taylor. There are plenty of activities for the entire family including scaling a rock climbing wall, cuddling the animals in the petting zoo, horse rides, navigating a giant hay maze, and riding in colorful hot air balloons!
This event really puts you in the mood for Fall and kids love it! You can buy tickets here
. These are two great family events that are sure to delight your little ones! I’m sure you have heard the saying, “a happy wife makes for a happy life”
– and a happy family makes for a well appointed house and home! It is always fun to get nice outings on the calendar as the season is changing! Enjoy!
