Screenspiration: Sex And The City Two

I was among true blue fans who attended the midnight showing of Sex and the City Thursday morning and none of the hundreds of us were disappointed. The fashions were amazing, which goes without saying, but when Carrie told a sales lady she had been "cheating on fashion with furniture" everyone know the decor was going to steal the show.  After Carrie and Big sold their penthouse in the sky they moved a few floors down but isn't exactly something we could call a "downgrade."
Their apartment is fun, fresh and modern.   The interiors were designed by set designer and interior designer Lydia Marks who did a close reading of the script in order to bring the words to life.  Marks told the Huffington Post she wanted to decorate the apartment "as if Carrie (and her decorator) chose the pieces, but with Big very much in mind. It was designed to be a place where he would be comfortable."
Ahh! That closet!!

The beauty of Mark's designs is that the apartment looks so lived in and functional, even though it is a set.  Our high back deco chairs look like they would be perfect around that table.

The lighting in the apartment was particularly impressive.  Get the look with our circle mirrored pendant and bubbles chrome lighting fixture.

The couch was its own character in the movie as the two struggled to find themselves in their marriage.
For those of you who were also devotees of the show you may have a pang for Carrie's old west village studio.  Well, it made a guest appearance in the sequel looking great with the makeover it received in the first movie.
Get the look with our round mirrored tile side table, which looks so close to the one pictured we're wondering if its the same one?
Handmade in the USA, the artisan will work with you to customize the table so you can get it to look as close to Carrie's as you want or don't want.  Our white Angelica lamp is also reminiscent of the one shown.

Want to know what's inside? Of course you do, check it out here and step inside Carrie's closet.

Our cashmere love pillows would look great on her bed, inspired by the "love" painting she has hanging.
The girls leave the island of Manhattan to stir up some trouble abroad in the uber glamourous and extravagant Abu Dhabi.  When Samantha said "I can hear the decadence calling.".. she wasn't kidding.
We can thank writer and director Michael Patrick King for the strong showing of Moroccan inspired pieces hitting the stores these days.  The lavish hotel reminds us a lot of the La Mamonia Hotel, which recently reopened last October.

The ladies stayed in a suite, which ran a bill of 22,000 dollars a day! Now that's some haute living.
Throughout the movie SJP wore a lot from Halston Heritage Collection, which she has recently been appointed as President.  Here are little preview of the pieces she wore in the movie:

Father Day Gift Ideas!

Remember that old fairy tale about the King who had the three daughters and asked each to compare their love for him to something material? Two of the three daughters just wanted to impress him and named extravagant possessions but the third, his favorite, compared her love to him to salt.  Initially, the King was angry and banished her from the Kingdom but after she snuck in, stole the salt from the kitchen and showed him how essential salt is, the King took her back and forgave her.  I've been thinking about that story a lot now that the time of year to honor dear ol' Dad is upon us.  Dads always say 'oh don't get me anything, your love is enough' or are perfectly happy with a coozy and a some tickets to the game but Dad's can be bigger divas about gifts than mom (hello, the story?). Like all men, they need to know you care so this year, show dad how much you appreciated him scaring away your high school suitors with some gifts he'll love.  Here are our top picks from The Well Appointed House:

You may not think it but Dads, like Moms, love to have pictures of their children and grandchildren around.  This Antique Golfers Decoupage frame is perfect for the dad who likes the links.  Customize the frame with a phrase or monogram to personalize the gift and then put in a fabulous black and white photo to complete the whole vintage vibe.  If your father would rather sport some links rather than get his sport on, the links than these monogram cufflinks are the perfect option.
Your dad will always think of you whether he is at a big board meeting or out on the town. Make sure you order these sterling silver cufflinks and the picture frame now ASAP to allow for your items to be monogrammed in time for the big day!  Does your dad hate sharing or like to keep some spirits close to him while he's out fishing or hunting?
This black leather flask is handsome with it's bright silver monogram plate on the front and along the top.  If you dad is the kind of guy that likes to relax and maybe even take in some at home spa services (we imagine this constitutes as shaving, washing between the ears and brushing teeth) than our plush monogram navy robe is right up his alley.
The luxurious cotton coupled with the deep, classic navy is an essential gift; every man needs one at one point in his life, so why not choose this one and personalize it with his monogram? We love monogramming gifts at The Well Appointed House because it shows that your gift wasn't last minute and it wasn't intended for anyone but the receiver.  Make sure you get your orders in on these monogram products in the next day or two to allow for enough time to arrive by the big day, which just so happens to be June 20th.  Be sure to shop the rest of our "gifts for him" which also include some great, non personalized goodies sure to spread the love!
