We love our Capiz Shell Chandelier almost as much as our customers do! This item has been quite popular over the years because of its stellar price point...just $358 plus tax and shipping! It is petite, measuring 18"D x 21"H and is ideal for a small space like a city apartment, over a small and chic table. I can see a mirrored table and some lucite chairs to complete the look (which can all be found at The Well Appointed House, of course!).
As followers of our blog and fans of our website (The Well Appointed House), you are eligible for the drawing, which will be held on Friday (yes, in two days!). There is not much time so here are the rules: you must be a registered follower of our blog and you must post a comment under this entry officially entering yourself into the drawing. Good luck! If you aren't the lucky winner, you can purchase the chandelier here!

Another Shelter & Lifestyle Magazine is Launching: Anthology-Living with Substance and Style
We are big fans here at The Well Appointed House of Lonny Magazine, a bimonthly online magazine that focuses on lifestyle and home decor, which launched in October 2009. Lonny was founded by designer Michelle Adams and photographer Patrick Cline. On Friday I announced the launch of another online publication, Rue Magazine (founded by Crystal Gentilello and Anne Sage) and today I am excited to report yet another that will have both a print and online presence! (Wow!)
Anthology will be a new quarterly shelter and lifestyle print magazine that takes a narrative approach to its coverage of home decor, travel, design, entertaining and culture.
Anthology founders Anh-Minh Le (Editor in Chief) and Meg Mateo Ilasco (Creative Director) envision the magazine as a collection of stories shared with readers.
Both women were accomplished home decor and lifestyle writers. Ann-Minh is a regular contributor to The San Francisco Chronicle Datebook and Home & Garden departments and she previously wrote for the popular design blog Apartment Therapy, as well as ReadyMade magazine. Meg is also an accomplished writer, illustrator, designer and entrepreneur and has authored six books and won numerous graphic design awards.

Very creative!
Each issue of Anthology explorers a theme and the premiere issue is called The Slow Life and focuses on the idea of taking it easy and taking pleasure in the simple things. Here is a glimpse of the inaugural issue, from their website:
- Market Editor Joy D. Cho rounds up her favorite products that are sure to not only stand the test of time, but actually improve over the years.
- We love conversations—and for this issue, we sat down with blogger extraordinaire Grace Bonney of Design*Sponge.
- In our travel piece, check out a local’s picks in fabulous Park City, Utah.
- Go behind the scenes with a Chicago furniture designer who handcrafts heirloom-quality pieces.
- Unconventionality reigns supreme in interior designer Grant K. Gibson’s redesign of a client’s living room.
- Learn how flowers can become an everyday luxury when you grow them at home.
- See inspirational interiors—as well as read the stories behind them—in California, Louisiana, and New York.
- Witness how a group of well-known San Francisco foodies entertain. You’ll be surprised by how easy a good gathering can be!
Here is a peek at two photos from the new issues- take a look and see the rest for yourself!

Family Fun in NYC and Greenwich, CT! Family Party at American Museum of Natural History & GO WILD in Greenwich!
Fall is almost here and with that comes fabulous family events in and around New York City! I wanted to tell you about two of my favorites!
So, if you can, join us at the Family Party! You won't regret it!
If you cannot attend the Family Party, don't fret - there is another fabulous family event taking place in Greenwich, CT...the GO WILD Family Field Day on Sunday, September 26th! Go Wild is put on by the Greenwich Land Trust and is considered one of the premier family events in Greenwich. If you live in the city, take a nice car ride out and join us at GO WILD. My friend Susan Sleeper is a co-chair of this year's event along with Beth Taylor. There are plenty of activities for the entire family including scaling a rock climbing wall, cuddling the animals in the petting zoo, horse rides, navigating a giant hay maze, and riding in colorful hot air balloons!

The first is the American Museum of Natural History's Seventeenth Annual Family Party. The family party is happening Tuesday, October 19th from 5-7:30pm. Mark your calendars! I am one of the Chairs of this event and it is going to be great!
The committee and development office have been hard at work ensuring that the Family Party is going to be a lot of fun for kids of all ages again this year! This party truly is one of the Museum's best-loved traditions because it features both educational activities and fun entertainment for kids from two to twelve. This year we will have some exciting guest appearances by some of our favorite local entertainers and NYC kids venues! Slither with the snakes at "A Touch of Nature" with Jerry Zelenka. Fairy tales do come true! Transform into a valiant knight or fair princess with costumes by Let's Dress Up! Grab a hard hat and map and search for clues with the Architots Blueprint Challenge and afterward dig for dinosaurs at the big Gobi sand dig! You won't believe your eyes with the tricks Magic-Al Garber has up his sleeves (this magician is amazing at captivating kids of all ages)! Kids can sparkle and dazzle at the Tiffany & Co. craft table. Watch as Wacky Wendy's Hat Factory's cogs and wheels churn and turn to build you a personalized hat that looks like your favorite animal! Let your wild side loose with ferocious faux hawks and magnificent manes from Cozy's Cuts for Kids. Hop on board our very own Moveable museum! There will be a fun AMNH "Science Center" where children will be able to explore live animals, extreme specimens (my kids always love this!) and interesting scientific data. Kids can channel their inner Picassos and paint their own Sea or Sky pal. After playing their way through the museum with Kids in Sports and having a delicious dinner, there will be a musical performance by Laughing Pizza! There is plenty of fun for the adults, too! If you are free the evening of October 19th, please join us! You can view the entire invitation here and buy tickets here.

Fashion Week: The Lela Rose Spring/Summer 2011 Collection
Many of you read my post on attending Jason Wu's fashion show Friday and I have really enjoyed receiving your comments. Yesterday I attended Lela Rose's show at Lincoln Center with my former assistant in tow. I have to note that my oldest daughter's birthday is this week, she turns five. She cried when I came home from the Wu show (real tears) and was equally as upset when I left yesterday for the Lela Rose show. She was upset that I wasn't bringing her with me. I explained to her that five year olds don't go to fashion week and that there will be a time and a place for that many years down the road (I bit my tongue a few hours later when I saw tiny tots seated at the show...hmmmm) This is a child who at age two stopped at a window in the Hamptons where she saw a pair of shoes I owned and pointed out to me that I had them at home in my closet. She doesn't miss a beat and I have to say that both of my little girls enjoyed having me come home with photos and video footage of the shows. You wouldn't believe their focus and interest! They proceeded to stage their own fashion show complete with beach towels laid end-to-end on the floor creating a long runway on which they danced and twirled in fabulous tutus and costumes they had assembled themselves. That was the highlight of my day!
Back to fashion week: In her 2011 Spring/Summer collections, Lela Rose made tribute to Lima, Peru through bold colors and patterns. There were thirty six creations and here I have picked my eighteen favorites (Photos Style.com):

Lela first came on my radar last year during Fashion's Night Out in NYC. She made an appearance at Bergdorfs and shortly thereafter, I bought one of her dresses. Her show yesterday was great - there was a lot of grey and silver sprinkled with punchy Peruvian colors. Here is the footage I shot of the finale. The show had great energy - enjoy!
