Clothing designer Peter Dundas has made a name for himself at the big time fashion houses of Ungaro, Roberto Cavalli, and Jean Paul Gaultier. Now, he holds the reigns at the famed Florentine brand Pucci — and has quickly injected a serious boost of sex-appeal to the over 60-year-old label. Norwegian-born Dundas, 41, has garnered a whole new following for Pucci, since his appointment of creative director three years ago. He succeeded well-known style-arbiters Matthew Williamson and Christian Lacroix, but had no problem distinguishing himself.

Florentine aristocrat, Emilio Pucci founded the company in 1947, filling a style void for a new group of modern, active, post-war women. It soon became known for its psychedelic, graphic prints that instantly appealed to the jet-setting, Capri-treading crowd.

Now, Pucci, under Dundas, has found its way onto the red carpet and young social scene. The legendary label has lately been a hit with style-setting stars like Blake Lively, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Hudson, Jessica Biel and PYT Euro-socialites like Poppy Delevigne, Eugenie Niarchos and Julia Restoin-Roitfeld. And while Pucci’s trademark patterns will surely never become obsolete, sleek solid cuts and flowing tiered gowns are now part of the repertoire. “It’s really the lifestyle elements of Pucci that I like most, ” Dundas tells Harper’s Bazaar. “I believe in the dream in the real sense.”

Dundas’s sexy-glam aesthetic carries over into his home life.  Harper’s Bazaar featured his gorgeous 15-century Florence palazzo apartment in their latest issue.

“The whole palazzo vibe that you get in Florence is so unique. And aspirational. It’s like you have to be part of the club,” Dundas tells Bazaar.

While a retro-Pucci print will always be chic, it’s safe to say that Dundas’s modern-glam pieces can be considered new classics.
