Stunning Front Door Ideas: Add a Portico! 20 Gorgeous Entryways!

Spring is finally in the air around us in Greenwich, CT and Summer arrives next month. Temperatures are already in the 80’s in many parts of the country and  people are spending more time outdoors.  Porticos are a nice way to enhance an entry way and to increase curb appeal — whether you are currently designing a new home or want to renovate the one you are living in.  Guests always notice your front door, so you might as well make it inviting! Once the porticos are done and in place, we always love to see pretty benches, door mats and planters to invite houseguests in. A good architect and carpenter can build in attractive benches or seats right into a portico design, which can also be fun!  Or you can check out fabulous benches and planters from partner sites like our very own The Well Appointed House. Here are 20 fabulous portico ideas – take a look!

This one is interesting because the instead of walking straight up from the front, the two stairways go down the sides:

This one has an elegant criss-cross pattern

Hi! I could have sworn I’ve been to this website before but after looking at some of
the posts I realized it’s new to me. Regardless, I’m certainly happy I found it
and I’ll be book-marking it and checking back frequently!

I’ll be honest, I didn’t actually know it was called a portico, but I do love the look of these on houses. I think they add some depth to the front of the house, and it can be a great space to decorate! Thanks for sharing these beautiful homes.
