Seen & Heard: Privacy Concerns over Posting Kids Photos to Facebook, Olivia Palermo’s Collection for Nordstrom, Ugly Fruits & Vegetables Solving World Hunger and more…

Here is a roundup of some interesting things that I’ve seen and heard around this week:

SEEN

PRIVACY CONCERNS OVER PARENTS POSTING PHOTOS OF THEIR CHILDREN  Is it violating your child’s privacy to post online photos now while they are young — everywhere from Facebook to blogs?  I have been very careful not to fill my blog with photos of my children (there are very few since its launch in 2009 for just this reason).  However, now this is becoming a public debate.  Should it be an issue if you are just posting to your closed circle of friends? OLIVIA PALERMO’S COLLECTION FOR NORSTROM

Socialite and style icon Olivia Palermo has launched her own eponymous collection for Nordstrom in conjunction with Chelsea 28.  The pieces are very affordable- check it out!  (click here to view)

HOW UGLY FRUITS & VEGETABLES CAN HELP SOLVE WORLD HUNGER

This is a great article by National Geographic.  I had no idea that about a third of the planet’s food goes to waste – that’s enough to feed two billion people.  Fascinating – check it out.  (click here to read it)

WHY YOUR KIDS SHOULD PLAY LOTS OF SPORTS

This is a great article by a former olympian on her struggle and frustration with the competitive nature of youth sports.  (click here to read it)

DO YOU THINK YOUR CHILD IS SMART?  CHECK OUT GREENWICH’S VERY OWN OLIVIA HALLISEY
We all think our kids are great, but check out this one – 17 year old Olivia Hallisey – a rockstar from right here in Greenwich.  She designed a low cost, portable test for Ebola (yes, Ebola!) and was the grand prize winner of the 2015 Google Science Fair!  Wow.  (click here to read about her) and (click here to see her on Stephen Colbert)

HEARD

MUSIC
What is life without music? Here are some new songs I am downloading this week:

Nottamun Town by Listenbee– it’s such a happy song, you’ll literally be clicking your heel in the air…(click here to listen)
Rivers by Thomas Jack – I love this song!  It brings tropical house music to a new level, it will have you running harder on that treadmill. Download it! (click here to listen)
Tearing Me Up by Bob Moses – I like to work and write to music like this.  It’s chill but has a great beat. Slow start but wait…  Check it out and ‘skip’ the ads that pop up on Soundcloud (click here to listen)
The Cello Song – oh my goodness, this song is amazing!  Who knew that the cello could be so wonderful?? (click here to listen) and if you have a moment, watch these guys!   I just woke my kids up to this song, what better way to start the day? This video has had 24 million views!  (click here to watch)  A-M-A-Z-I-N-G
