I've enjoyed my time on Nantucket this summer. It's nice to be back in Greenwich and we are gearing up for the school year to start. The plan is for my three children to go back to school full time in Greenwich. I've got my fingers and toes crossed that with wearing masks and the hygiene precautions in place, we will have a chance at school staying in session. Let's see...

With the kids out of school since the end of May and camps cancelled for the summer, it has been challenging (to say the least) to run The Well Appointed House and blog. Time has been limited. With school starting in a week, I am hoping to return! In the meantime, here are photos I took on my daily walks in Nantucket. All photos copyright Melissa Hawks/The Well Appointed House.

I finished "The Dearly Beloved" while on Nantucket. I loved it!

Views from The White Elephant in Brant Point - we always enjoy the view from the patio.

Historic houses in town:

Nantucket is known for its hydrangea. It looks gorgeous throughout July. By early August, some of it starts to look a bit dry.

I love stopping to look at the window boxes - and to watch the island gardening crews who service the boxes and keep them hydrated and overflowing with colorful blooms.

These historic homes on Main Street are spectacular. We did the nighttime Nantucket Ghost tour this year and enjoyed the stories about the spirits who still remain at some of these homes!

How pretty is this rainbow forming over Sconset? I have videos of it, too. It was magical!

Historic cottages in Sconset. It's such fun to take the kids for ice cream there and walk through the quaint streets and see the charming cottages. You will as though you have landed in a storybook:

View from a dinner I had with my husband at the Wauwinet - if you haven't been to Toppers, it's a must!
