Designer Betsy Johnson To Design Eloise Room In Plaza Hotel

Kay Thompson‘s fictional character Eloise checked into the Plaza Hotel of NYC in 1955 and her spirit has yet to leave it. After undergoing 450 million dollars in renovations, rendering the famous hotel more of an uber luxurious apartment complex, funky fashion designer Betsy Johnson will be designing a two bedroom suite dedicated to, who else, Eloise, in the book’s pink and black color scheme. Johnson, who marches to the beat of her own drum much like our beloved Eloise said:

“I’m tickled pink to be designing the Eloise room in the Plaza. When I recently moved uptown and my first granddaughter was born I rediscovered Eloise and hoped that something magical would happen between me and my favorite hotel. This is the perfect pink combo!”
Eloise was a personal favorite of mine growing up and I still enjoy peaking through my old copies of her books. I can’t wait to see what scribble will be on the living room walls, where Nanny will be sleeping and if you have to say “It’s me, Eloise!” when you call for room service when the room comes to life in Spring 2010.
At The Well Appointed House we have a few suggestions for Ms. Johnson to help create a room perfect for Eloise, Nanny and Weenie.
