New York Fashion Week Report: Diane Von Furstenberg

This being President’s Day it makes sense to start our fashion week recap with Madame Prespertate of the CDFA, Diane Von Furstenberg.

DVF designs are undeniably girlie with a smack of the unexpected in the form of bright colors or cooky patterns.  Von Furstenberg always seems to get it right, designing for women at every stage in their lives.  There was a definite correlation between her fall fashion show and this line by the way of lots of black pieces accented with bright neon hues.  She also played with texture a great deal adding a lot of fluff and fur where you least expect it.
The gray dress comprised of layered ruffles looks sharp with a crushed velvet boyfriend blazer. Both looks (above and below) show how easy it is to make separates work for day and night, even when chiffon and ruffles are involved.

Above, a statement making cocktail dress to say the least.  Layers and layers of chiffon work hard to create this look.  Below, something a little more wearable yet nonetheless chic and modern.  DVF is known for her wrap dresses, but this one is on a whole other level.  Shown with bear legs, it would look great with some black opaque tights and booties.

The schoolgirl look is making a big comeback on the runways, but done here in a sheer chiffon blouse paired with  a metallic mini and blazer, it looks a little more graduated.

The print skirt is going to be popping up everywhere on red carpets, maybe even by one time DVF employee Whitney Port, who would look great in this outfit.

A suit never looked this cool.

A drop-waist and full skirt can look dowdy with a cardigan, but the fabrication choices makes this look fresh and youthful.

The harem pant is a tough look, but here it is scaled down and complimented with a long sheer tunic.

 Leather + fur= lux
And then a crazy print thrown into the mix for good measure.
This jumpsuit is to DIE for!
Again, DVF pairs some day time slacks with a sequined cardigan and the look transcends the clock.
The furry skirt was also seen at the Adam

The little black dress above can be worn by a woman of any age.  Below, this gown embodies the line with a metallic top and black chiffon draping.
