Gypset Style: The Art of Living on Vacation- It works For Christian Louboutin

With the vacation season fast approaching the idea of laying in some warm sand couldn’t sound any better.  Those who are avid travelers likely have a collection of oddities spanning the scope of their travels tucked away in their homes and closets.  This eclectic lifestyle, known as “Gypset” has inspired many interior and fashion designers as well as a book Gypset Style.  Assouline writes of Julia Chaplin’s book:

Yuppies, Yippies, Jet Setters, Bright Young Things, Generation X, Generation Y… and now the Gypset. Fusing the ease and carefree lifestyle of a gypsy with the sophistication of the jet set, the Gypsetters are artists, surfers, designers, and bon vivants who live and work around the globe, from Jose Ignacio, Uruguay and Ibiza, Spain, to Montauk, New York. Gypset Style explores the unconventional, wanderlust lives of these high-low cultural nomads and thte bohemian enclaves they inhabit, as well as their counterculture forbears, such as the Victorian explorers, the Lost Generation, the Beatniks, and the hippies.

These recent Hermes ads show what modern Gypset luxury is all about.  Gypset fashion is supposed to look effortless yet make a big statement. Simple silhouettes in big, bold patterns and bright paisleys go a long way. Add gobs of gold bangles and gladiator flats and you’ll look as though you stepped out of one of these photos.

A wintery look.  Gypsetters ski too! {photo}

Mixing prints, patterns and animal skins in a thoughtful manner makes your Gypset inspired room complete.  Thick dark wood can work well with more delicate chairs and ottomans as long as they have similar finishes and keep within a close color palette.
