I had a great time attending Jason Wu’s Spring/Summer 2011 Fashion Show yesterday at 80 Mercer Street in New York City. I particularly loved the lacquered blue runway, which really stood out in the rustic loft space the show was held in. The entire collection was amazing and I was impressed by the wearability of literally each and every single design. His designs were gorgeous and were made for real women to wear to real events. The evening collections were stunning and I could see the parallels which have been made between Wu and Oscar de la Renta as I watched the models glide past me in his ethereal creations. The show showcased soft, feminine frills and the runway was filled with great details like fabulously oversized sunglasses, turbans, thin belts and pocket books. We saw bold colors as well as classics like black and white. There were a number of deep purple ensembles and I think purple will be big this year. We’ll take a look at how fashion week will impact the upcoming year of home decor next week. In the meantime, here are a few of my photos. (Photos copyright Melissa Hawks, The Well Appointed House.)

Here is video I took of the end of the show. The energy was great!
We walked out behind Glenda Bailey, Editor-in-Chief of Harper’s Bazaar, which was a treat. If you want more great images from the show, I recommend the NY TIMES slideshow.
Tomorrow I am off to Lela Rose. Should be fun!
