When I read my November/December 2010 issue of Veranda, I immediately flagged the Miles Redd spread. I fell in love with his custom pagoda style window treatments. I am a big fan of Chinoiserie details in decorating and the stripes are right on trend (see my entry on Stripes on the Runway and in the Home). The shape is certainly whimsical, yet elegant, and gives us a glimpse into Redd’s creativity in putting his vision almost from pen to paper (literally). It’s as though he sketched a doodle of what he imagined the windows to be and then snapped his fingers and these charming pagoda-like coronas appeared.
One of my blog followers is Teresa at Splendid Sass (and winner of our most recent blog giveaway!) and she was kind enough to post scans of that issue of Veranda on her blog, so take a look if you haven’t already had the pleasure of reading the article:
Again here, we see the Chinese garden stools in white…perhaps Miles placed them in the living room as well or perhaps just borrowed them from the hall and moved them to the living room for the photoshoot – but this is the beauty of pieces like these stools: you should be able to move furniture you buy from room to room and provide additional seating or side tables to place drinks and snacks. Colors should flow as you go and pieces must be versatile and functional. Things placed around a room should be functional and serve a purpose, so if you have a side chair perched in a corner, be sure to have a drink table handy. Garden stools are ideal for many uses!
