A “bed in a bag” is a holy decorating sin, however in this new series The Well Appointed House presents an easy e-decorating how to, a “room in a post.” The living room is your space’s hallmark. It’s where you entertain your guests, spend time relaxing with a book or watching TV and even eat your meals. Living in the city, it often is your whole apartment.
This has been in my tear file since it appeared in Feb/March 2010 issue of Lonny Mag. I love the mix of classic with contemporary and the mix of materials. Its downtown chic at it’s best, which is fitting since it’s in the West Village. Here’s how to get the look courtesy of The Well Appointed House.
is absolutely perfect for the room. Its traditional like the inspiration photo but isn’t too stuffy or ornate. This piece is available in black, white or brown wood, which is great since the brown version is the most complimentary treatment for the room.
Fully obsessed with this crystal orb floor lamp
! It makes whatever corner of the room instantly more glam just for being in it and brings a contemporary element to the overall design scheme.
I can’t say enough good things about our designer ‘Tin Tabl
e. Not only are there a myriad of chic color options, you can also choose what treatment you want the top to be. For this room the “Hinting Blue” paired with the white lizard painting top is my top choice.
With so many patterns and colors on the menu a large, primarily glass coffee tabl
e swill serve as a functional piece that doesn’t compete with the rest of the design.
To accent the classic sofa, a few of these ikat pillow
s are perfect. They bring a worldly element to the space and add to its eclectic charm.
The only thing about the inspiration picture I wasn’t that thrilled with was the rug as it feels a little too delicate for my taste. This Trina Turk Greek Key rug
is fun and the design isn’t too overpowering, though it is large in scale, due to the light blue, which works nicely with the pillow above.
The two zebra stools are a fun component of the space, which is exactly what two of these faux leopard bamboo ottomans
would be. I love the rose color on the legs; they are a little unexpected pop.
One of the great successes of this room is the wall art. The ones that clearly go together as a set work with the larger one against the opposite wall. At The Well Appointed House our selection of wall art
can crash your computer! I love these four especially. The colors unite them but each picture from an artistic outlook is completely different, which matches the theme of the living room.
Voila! With help from The Well Appointed House
we’ve created the base for a Lonny worthy inspired living room. How will you put it together?
