Things We Love: Clarence House Beekman Place Fabric

We’ve just enjoyed perusing House Beautiful’s February 2013 issue. The Ann Pyne home designed for her mother, Betty Sherrill (a decorator herself who succeeded design firm founder Eleanor McMillen Brown and served as President of McMillen for thirty years) in Southampton is fabulous! A must see! The Clarence House Beekman Place fabric used in curtains in the guest room is fabulous! Take a look!

There is also coordinating wallpaper, though I think I like the fabric more!  It’s colorfully reminiscent of something you would see hanging in a window at Bemelman’s Bar at the Carlyle or in a tea room at the Greenbrier.  It is quite charming!

I enjoyed Ann’s use of color in every inch of this cheerful home — especially the hints of yellow and the fresh daffodils sprinkled throughout.  Take a look at a few pics from the House Beautiful issue and click here to see the complete article:

I was so excited to see this home in House Beautiful! Such a refreshing change from the boring beiges and greys. And I was so thrilled to see your post on this, as I fell in love with that fabric! So pretty! And the master (madame) bedroom is exquisite!

When designing a room, it is important to consider the functionality of the room and the personalities and preferences of those who use it most. For larger walls, go with a large work of art for best effect. It feels just like you can walk directly into the scene. It is a stunning and fantastic result. It is even better to play with colors and fabrics if you have a bigger space.
