As we sit here in Greenwich by the fire this Christmas Eve, it’s fun to see how our Palm Beach counterparts down in warmer parts bring in the holiday cheer! From the light-wrapped palm trees lining roads and hotel entrances to the gorgeous Christmas trees on Worth Avenue, and at the Flagler Museum and the Breakers, the town rolls out the proverbial pink and green carpet to welcome holiday travelers from around the country in preppy style. The Palm Beach Annual Holiday Boat parade doesn’t disappoint either. There is something for everyone there this time of year! So off we send you to sleep, where thoughts of sugar “palms”, flamingos and Hinkleys may dance through your head….
The Kennedys were known to frequent their “Winter White House” in Palm Beach, a spectacular property that had been purchased by Joseph Kennedy, Sr. in 1933. Below are photos of the Kennedy’s at Christmas in Palm Beach in 1962 at the home of their good friend, C. Michael Paul. It would be John F. Kennedy’s’ last Christmas. These photos have made the rounds for years on the internet — and they are still fun to look at! Photos by White House photographer Cecil Stoughton:
No matter where you find yourself this holiday, there is nothing better than being with family and good friends at Christmas! Merry Christmas!
