I realize that many of you that read the blog are not from the local area, but for those of you that are from the NYC and Fairfield County/Westchester areas please know that the American Red Cross is holding its annual ball on April 29, 2017 at the NetJets Hangar at Westchester Airport.  Mark your calendars! I have attended in the past and am serving on the committee this year. My good friends are co-chairing the event and it's a great charity to support.
Did you know that the American Red Cross has a long standing history of supporting America's military and veteran families? Yes!  The Red Cross has served more than 1 million military families since 9/11 alone. It helps members of the military, veterans and their families prepare for, cope with, and respond to, the challenges of military service.
Volunteers provide home comforts and critical services on bases and in military hospitals around the world.  The Red Cross supports military families during deployments and emergencies.  They continue serving our nation’s veterans after their service ends.  Every day, the American Red Cross provides 24/7 global emergency communication services and support in military and veteran health care facilities across the country and around the world.
You can read about the history of the Red Cross here - it was founded by Clara Barton.  Read about her here.
This year's theme is "A Salute to Service and Valor".  J.R. Martinez (pictured below) will be honored with the American Red
Cross Exceptional Service Award. A severely wounded U.S. Army Veteran, Purple Heart recipient, and winner of Dancing with the Stars, J.R. will be recognized for his devotion to spreading his message of inspiration and resilience in the face of his devastating injuries. I am sure that he will be inspiring!

NetJets will be honored with the Red Cross Corporate Leadership Award, a salute to their unparalleled support of the Red and White Ball.
One of the most fun parts of the Red Cross Ball is seeing the tablescapes designed by local interior design firms.   These local designers put in a lot of their own time and effort to help get the tabletops ready for the ball using their own unique designs and materials.  It takes a village to put on this ball! Here are beautiful table settings from the 2016 ball, photographed by Chi Chi and Elaine Ubina for Fairfield County Look :

You can also see tablescapes from the 2012 event here at the Quinessence Blog and the  2014 Red Cross Ball here at Connecticut Cottages & Gardens , 2015 by clicking here at LOOK Magaine (pages 26-38).  Each table is different - who knows where you'll end up!
This year's event features cocktails, dinner, dancing, silent/live auctions and award presentations.  I can't wait to find out which designers are doing this year's tables!  To buy tickets for the event, click here.  Patron Level supporters will receive tickets to the Ball, an invitation to the exclusive Patron Party and will be entered into a drawing for a one week luxury vacation to La Bella Casa, Terres Basses, St. Martin, a nine bedroom villa, available from May to October 2017.
This year's committee is a fun group of ladies and two of my good friends, Linda Jenkins and  Ilona Kally-Nagy are co-chairing the event.
